Overview

Bryan Cannon focuses his practice on patent litigation in District Courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Bryan has extensive experience handling all aspects of patent litigation in District Courts, including preparing complaints, invalidity contentions, expert reports, claim construction briefings, and technology tutorials, as well as taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses and serving as lead associate in a jury trial. At the PTAB, he has managed numerous inter partes review proceedings for both petitioners and patent owners from the petition stage through final written decision. His litigation experience extends to the ITC, where he has led validity challenges, prepared and examined expert witnesses, and received an invalidity ruling.

Bryan has also assisted clients with patent prosecution, counseling, and portfolio management. With a background in mechanical and aerospace engineering, he has drafted and prosecuted patent applications related to medical devices, automobile components, multi-function printers, heat exchangers, and floor paneling. He has authored invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom to operate opinions, as well as counseled clients on patent portfolio development strategies.

Prior to practicing law, Brian was a moored training ship conversion lead auxiliary engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, where he led technical review of specifications, system descriptions, and diagrams for air and ventilation systems.
