Charles Bahlert maintains a trademark and copyright law practice with clients ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 500.
Charles provides his clients with business-focused, cost-aware advice on all aspects of brand adoption, protection, and enforcement in the U.S. and internationally, including selection and clearance of trademarks, prosecution of trademark applications, and licensing and transactions. He also represents clients in federal court litigation, in disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in arbitration proceedings involving domain names.
In addition, Charles counsels clients on a broad range of copyright matters, including infringement, registration, and fair use issues. He also advises clients on issues related to right of publicity, unfair competition, false advertising, and social media strategy.
Before joining a law firm, Charles clerked for the National Football League and was a legal extern for the Oakland Raiders.
Charles also provides pro bono legal services for a variety of charities and non-profits. He has served as counsel for The Guardsmen, a San Francisco nonprofit organization that raises money for at-risk youth in the Bay Area, and currently advises the nonprofit on brand protection matters.
In his spare time, Charles enjoys playing guitar and trying to keep up with his two young children.
