Overview

Daniel H. Wade focuses his practice on patent litigation in electrical and computer technologies, trade secret litigation, and privacy and data security.

Dan’s practice spans a wide range of technologies, including semiconductor devices, computer hardware, software and cybersecurity/privacy, telecommunications, and aerospace. He has experience in all aspects of complex intellectual property litigation in both U.S. District Courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission, including pre-suit diligence, fact and expert discovery, claim construction, and motion practice. In addition, Dan is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Dan also has a robust pro bono practice, where he represents clients in need of political asylum and immigration representation through the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project and through Greater Boston Legal Services. Dan also represents clients in housing court through the Lawyer-for-a-Day program with Northeast Legal Aid.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Dan was an application support engineer at MathWorks and a co-op engineer at an aerospace company. During law school, Dan was a member of the BU/MIT Technology Law Clinic, where he counseled a wide range of BU and MIT students and ventures on issues such as EU GDPR and California CPRA compliance, security research under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, export control under EAR and ITAR, DMCA anti-circumvention regulations and notice/takedown procedures, and FERPA compliance.

In his free time, Dan enjoys biking all around New England and listening to and making music with his friends.

    In 2024, Northeast Legal Aid named Dan a Pro Bono Champion in recognition of his work on housing matters. He has also been named to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's Pro Bono Honor Roll for providing 50 or more pro bono hours in a single year (2021, 2023).
