Overview

David Hardy concentrates his practice on the prosecution of both domestic and foreign patent applications in the electrical engineering field.

With a combined 30 years of patent prosecution experience as a primary patent examiner, a supervisory primary examiner, and a patent agent, David has worked with technologies including semiconductor devices and fabrication; communication systems; consumer electronics; software; medical devices; optical testing and measuring devices; display devices including PDPs, LCDs, and LEDs; lasers; memory devices; sensors; and magnetic power generation systems. David has successfully prosecuted hundreds of domestic and foreign patent applications for clients in the mechanical and electrical arts, and he has assisted with counseling clients on matters of strategic patent planning, patent portfolio development, and technology assessment.

Prior to becoming a patent agent, David gained seven years of experience as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, a role in which he was formally recognized by receiving a Bronze Medal Award from the USPTO for his superior work examining patent applications across the mechanical and electrical arts. His understanding of the role that patent examiners play in the prosecution process equips David with a unique ability to effectively build rapport with examiners, facilitate efficient communication with the USPTO, and ultimately deliver value to his clients.
