    Overview

    Jacqueline Tio brings real-world perspectives and solutions to her clients, ready to advocate for them in high-stakes intellectual property litigation matters using all facets of her experiences in federal court, before the International Trade Commission, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She is willing to take on any challenge as a legacy of her time at MIT and the University of Chicago Law School.

    Known for her efficient, creative, and collaborative approach to litigation, Jacqueline takes pride in building diverse teams that excel in strategic thinking from all perspectives for her clients. She has extensive experience participating and arguing on behalf of her clients in jury and bench trials in U.S. District Courts and before the ITC, and she has represented plaintiffs, complainants, and defendants in asserting or defending against claims seeking injunctive and/or monetary relief. Jacqueline cultivates a deep understanding of her clients’ variety of technologies, including polymers, agrochemicals, anti-viral compounds, pharmaceuticals, biomedical devices, mechanical devices, electronics, and consumer products. She has also become a leading voice on the innovations, opportunities, and challenges of the burgeoning femtech industry. Jacqueline’s practice has brought her to jurisdictions including California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Texas, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C.

    Jacqueline is a rising leader in the legal community for her dedication to supporting and advocating for diverse attorneys; she co-chaired Fish & Richardson’s Asian Affinity Group from 2021 to 2023, currently co-chairs the Membership and Diversity Committee of the Atlanta chapter of ChIPs, and serves as an officer for the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She is also the recruiting principal for the firm’s Atlanta office. 

    In her pro bono practice, Jacqueline has worked with Kids in Need of Defense to ensure the well-being of unaccompanied minors, supervised matters involving tenant/landlord disputes with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, and prosecuted patents through Georgia Lawyers for the Arts.  

    Prior to joining Fish, Jacqueline completed a judicial internship for the Honorable Linda T. Walker of the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta Division). She also conducted research for the MIT chemistry department source reduction project, which received a 2005 and 2006 EPA P3 Award for Student Design for Sustainability; research for Oak Ridge National Laboratory's environmental services division; and research in inorganic chemistry under Professor Stephen Lippard as an undergraduate. 

    Always eager to take on a new challenge, Jacqueline has pursued a number of eclectic interests, including playing competitive ice hockey in college, joining her high school’s debate team, competing in figure roller skating, and playing the viola. She is also a proud mom of two.
