Justin Sears, Ph.D., guides pharmaceutical companies through every stage of the patent strategy and prosecution process, from identifying patentable inventions to managing global patent prosecution campaigns.

Justin received his doctorate in organic and medicinal chemistry, a scientific background that helps him to readily understand his clients’ innovations and recommend an effective strategy for protecting them. He has experience with everything from identifying patentable inventions, conducting patentability searches and due diligence, drafting patents, and executing international prosecution strategies to seeking patent term extensions for approved pharmaceutical products in both the United States and abroad.

Clients rely on Justin for his calm, clear, and analytical approach to patent practice, as well as his experience working with clients across the many stages of research and development, including the initial discovery of pharmaceutical entities, as well as the development of formulations, synthetic processes, and dosing regimens. Past innovations he’s worked with include novel small molecule therapeutics and peptide-conjugates for the treatment of various types of solid tumors and blood cancers.

An avid tennis player, Justin’s free time often finds him on the court or watching professional tournaments.
