Overview

As Fish & Richardson's first director of pro bono & social responsibility, Mia Friedman sets the strategic direction for and oversees all aspects of the firm’s pro bono and social responsibility programs.

She works closely with the firm’s national pro bono chair to oversee the firm’s pro bono practice. Mia also manages the firm’s community service and environmental responsibility initiatives, as well as directing the firm’s charitable giving program. Mia is herself active in the legal services community, volunteering her time with the Lawyers Clearinghouse’s Board of Directors and the Boston Bar Association’s Delivery of Legal Services Section.

Before joining Fish, Mia was the legal clinic director at Lawyers Clearinghouse, where she ran pro bono programs providing legal services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Mia’s work at Lawyers Clearinghouse also included directing and expanding the Access to Justice Fellows Program, an innovative pro bono model for senior and retired judges and attorneys. She was previously the director of public interest and pro bono programs at Suffolk University Law School, where she managed law student pro bono work and counseled students interested in public service careers.

Prior to her professional roles in pro bono management, Mia practiced as a civil litigator at a small Boston firm.
