Overview

Experienced in all phases of litigation, trial attorney Ralph Phillips has appeared and argued in U.S. District Courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission in Section 337 proceedings.

Ralph represents a wide-ranging clientele in contentious patent infringement cases and has prevailed for clients against industry-leading competitors. His cases involve a broad array of technologies, including LCD and plasma displays, digital televisions, network switching devices, lithium-ion battery technology, speech coding and decoding algorithms, computer hardware and software, digital signal processing in computer products and mobile devices, smartphones, semiconductor fabrication, medical devices, and turbochargers.

Before beginning his legal career, Ralph worked as a process control engineer for the International Paper Company, where he implemented supervisory control systems to automate and optimize manufacturing processes. Ralph’s work required him to understand the operation of various systems, including power generation, chemical, and mechanical systems, and the electronics used to control them. He also instructed operators on how to use the systems he designed as part of his work.

With a strong and diverse technical background, Ralph readily understands his clients’ innovations. As a patent litigator, he applies that knowledge and his experience as an instructor to explain technical and legal concepts clearly, and he excels at delivering well-reasoned persuasive arguments that achieve winning results.
