Tim Rawson is an intellectual property litigator who helps companies in the U.S. and around the world protect their innovations primarily in the high-tech, consumer product, and software industries.
Tim’s litigation skills and legal knowledge were developed early in his career through a series of high-level clerkships and internships. Before joining Fish & Richardson, Tim served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2018 to 2019. Tim also clerked for the Honorable K. Nicole Mitchell of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas from 2014 to 2015. While in law school, Tim worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable John D. Love of the Eastern District of Texas.
Before his legal career, Tim practiced mechanical engineering for over six years, and he maintains his license as a professional engineer in the state of Texas. His broad range of engineering experience includes missile control and aircraft system design and providing consulting services for mechanical facility and infrastructure systems. Prior to joining Fish, he worked for a large international law firm in Los Angeles and for multiple aerospace and defense companies.
Tim serves on the board of Empower Network International, an organization dedicated to supporting the educations and communities of impoverished children around the world. His pro bono practice includes work with California Lawyers for the Arts, representing an up-and-coming filmmaker in an ongoing dispute involving fraud claims, and a number of guardianship matters. In his free time, Tim enjoys surfing in the San Diego area, trying out the newest craft beer, and cheering on his Texas Tech Red Raiders.
