Overview

Yong (Eric) Peng, Ph.D., helps Chinese clients protect their valuable intellectual property in the U.S. and abroad by creating durable patents designed to withstand the test of litigation. Bilingual in Mandarin and English, he excels at bridging cultural barriers, forging connections between Chinese clients and the world-class legal representation that can help them achieve their business objectives. 

As one of the co-founders of Fish & Richardson’s Shenzhen office, Eric’s roots in the community run deep. Throughout his career, he has worked with some of the largest corporations in China, helping them to achieve their IP objectives through consultation, strategy development, opinion work, and litigation due diligence services.  

Eric’s strong technical background puts him on firm footing in matters involving cutting-edge innovations in the telecommunications, semiconductor, blockchain, and artificial intelligence fields. In addition to a J.D. earned at Southern Methodist University, he has an M.S. and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and a B.E. in computer communications.   

Beyond his prosecution work, Eric has worked as technical and legal counsel on over 30 patent lawsuits in the U.S. since 2011, representing both patentees and defendants.   

Eric’s favorite pastime is hiking in the mountains or at historical sites for a taste of space and time. He is an enthusiast of cosmology and history.
